Personals

The images from the series entitled "Personals" are screenprints and hand-applied gouache and wax on wood.  They seek to expose the subliminal motives hidden in these short public messages that are printed in the "Want Ads" section of our newspapers.  Combining X-rated illustrations with "qualifications" and "self-descriptions" from the local press I am looking to draw a parallel between the seemingly innocent motivations for submitting and/or replying to a singles ad and the "decorative  abstraction" of the image.  Upon closer inspection both reveal a baser desire.
